What Are Powder Brows? Everything You Need to Know
Powder brows are a type of permanent (or semi-permanent) makeup that gives the look of softly filled-in brows - like brow powder or pencil, but done once instead of every day.
The pigment is applied using a small machine that layers tiny dots of pigment into the skin. It’s more flexible and less invasive than microblading, and it works well across a wide range of skin types.
Are Powder Brows right for me?
They work especially well for:
Oily, textured, or mature skin - where microblading may not hold up well
People with redness in the brow area - a gentler option for sensitive skin
Uneven or patchy brows - especially sparse tails or gaps
People with some natural brow hair - powder blends beautifully to add fullness
Why Powder Brows?
Gentle on the skin
Powder brows are less invasive than microblading. The machine implants pigment in tiny dots built up in layers rather than cutting the skin, which makes it a better option for sensitive or mature skin.
Predictable fading
Because the pigment is deposited more evenly, powder brows fade more predictably over time, which makes upkeep easier.
Customizable
From soft and natural to more defined, powder brows offer a wide range of styles. We adjust based on your skin, your features, and how you like your brows to look.
How Powder Brows are different from Microblading?
Both are forms brow tattooing, but they create very different effects.
Powder Brows are done with a vibrating machine, the result is a wash of color, similar to a daytime brow makeup look.
Microblading uses a blade to make tiny cuts in the skin, mimicking the look of individual brow hairs.
Common myths
They look harsh and blocky.
Not true. If you Google “Powder Brows”, yes, you will see very defined and stylized versions. That is more of a result of style choices than technique - the can be as soft and natural looking as microblading.
They’re only for people who like a bold, filled-in brow.
Powder Brows are fully customizable, so it suits all tastes. If you wear minimal makeup or prefer a very soft brow, we’ll create a shape and color that reflects that. I always build slowly and carefully to avoid going too bold (it’s much easier to add than to take away!)
They’ll look too dark.
The final healed result is lighter than what you see right after the appointment. Your brows will look darker for the first 5–10 days, but this fades significantly as they heal. In fact, one of the most common surprises clients have is how natural they look after healing.
